Please see our sample programmes for your options. We offer 1 – 5 day activity programmes that are designed individually to meet your needs. We work closely with the YHA throughout Wales to provide an extremely professional outdoor education experience.
Brecon Beacons outdoor activity centre is set in the heart of the Brecon Beacons this is the ideal location for your mountain based outdoor education visit. However a full range of activities is available at this location, please see our list below. The building is an old farm house converted into dormitories. The main building of 36 beds (including 1 double), and the annex of 8 beds (including 2 doubles) a total of 44 places.
The accommodation is a cosy 19th Century farmhouse, with access to some of the best walking routes in Wales. Step out through the front door and be greeted by breath taking views towards Pen y Fan, the highest mountain peak in South Wales, ideal for your school activity trip to Wales.

Then if the weather isn’t favourable, console yourself with the hostel’s roaring fire in the evening, after a great day of activities in the neighbouring countryside. The welcoming lounge has comfy arm chairs and tasty home-cooked meals being prepared in the kitchen next door.
All activities are led by National Governing Body qualified instructors. Off-site activities we offer include: Gorge walking, Sit on kayaking, Climbing and abseiling, Forest treks, Mountain treks, Orienteering and Raft building. On site there is: Bush Craft, Archery, and orienteering. Not far from the centre is a pleasant mountain stream, ideal for self-led activities in the evening. All activities are the same cost so are interchangeable with other activities from our list. There are also numerous historical and places of interest close by for teachers to run self-led activities when you want a less strenuous day.

Regarding accommodation and catering there is one free teacher place for every 10 pupils. Teachers do not pay for any activities, however they are of course welcome to join in if they wish. Activity programmes are designed individually to meet your pupils needs, the level of activity can be delivered to meet all skill levels and age group. National Curriculum activities that we can cover from this location cover: Geology, Geography, History, Environmental studies and of course Physical education. For schools on longer or repeat visits National Governing Body awards are possible. Pre-visit site inspections are welcome so please call us to arrange one that suits you.
