School Trips Wales: Team Initiative Games
School Trips Wales offers a wide range of team initiative games that you will find a little different to most activity centres. We have developed a range of team development activities with team building, communication and mutual support in mind.
School Trips Wales: Team Building
We most often associate team building activities with adults in a corporate environment. However, pupils can benefit from participating in these activities too. It is important for them to explore and implement skills that they will need later on in life. The level of challenge can be changed to suit the purpose of the event. For ice breakers or evening activities they will be more directed towards a shared fun event. However, for students just joining a 6th form or joining a new college or university we will direct the team events towards being more focused on getting to know each other and sharing support and ideas. We are able to link all learning points with all other activities we provide, the National Curriculum and real life developmental needs. In either case we will discuss with you the purpose of the event and design a programme that is tailored to meet the individual needs of your group.

Skills such as communication, problem solving and collaboration are used in all areas of life. Our team initiative games empower pupils to learn and perfect these, and other, skills. What’s more is that they’ll have fun whilst doing it. These activities will get your pupils laughing and bonding, otherwise they wouldn’t work!
The aim of our team initiative games is to help pupils improve their logic and problem-solving skills. They’ll need to develop unique ways to think about tasks and try problem solving methods they haven’t used before. This will enable your pupils to tackle issues that they face in their day-to-day school life and eventually jobs.

Team initiative games come in lots of different forms:
Logic/Problem Solving
These games involve collaborating to solve a puzzle. They can be based on physical activities or sitting down to calculate a strategy. The pupils are presented with a scenario or challenge that they must overcome by working as a team.
Creative
Our team initiative games with a creative spin mean collaborating with each other to produce an end result. They usually take the form of each person contributing something to the project. The goal here is to set up a project where everyone must first work together to find out which part of the project they want to take and how they can help. Pupils will learn the importance of communicating and providing constant updates on their progress.
Challenging
If you chose we can organise to set a difficult challenge for your pupils and find out how they overcome it. Rather than working together to solve a puzzle, your pupils will have to make difficult decisions.

Fun
Some team initiative games are simply fun! By doing a pleasant activity together, your pupils will feel positive towards one another and create a bond. These are our “Ice breaker” challenges.
Fitness:
Basic, however if there are any issues please discuss this with us so that we can ensure the activity is fully inclusive.
